Abstract

A vinylaromatic compound is polymerized in the presence of an activator and at one fixed temperature within the range in which the activator used has a half life of 2-60 min. The monomer may be styrene and/or a ring substituted alkyl or alkoxy styrene. The activator may be a peroxide or azo compound. In an example styrene is polymerized in the presence of butyl stearate, water, calcium phosphate, alkyl sulphonate and benzoyl peroxide to produce a bead product.
