Abstract
981,029. Foundry ladles. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. Jan. 10, 1964 [Jan. 22, 1963], No. 1288/64. Heading F4B. Apparatus for positioning a ladle above a mould comprises a ladle-supporting beam having means engaging two erect rails located at each beam end and pivotally supported at their upper ends, and means for tilting said rails about their supports. A ladle 10 is suspended by trunnions 16, stirrups 15 and plate 14 from a beam 12 suspended by sheaves 17 and ropes 18 from an overhead crane. Said beam is guided by end rollers 22 running within the inner channels of two parallel erect I-section guide rails 19, which are pivotally supported at their upper ends by journals 20 engaging fixed bearings 21 and which are constrained at their lower ends to swing in one vertical plane by rollers 34 running in floor-mounted guide tracks 32. The guide rails are tilted about their upper supports by pivoted motors 25 driving screws 29 through a reduction gear 27, each screw being pivotally connected at one end 30 to a guide rail. The hook 13 may be of the motorized rotatable type.
