981,024. Gauging apparatus; indicating- apparatus. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Dec. 6, 1963, No. 48384/63. Headings G1J and G1M. A gauge comprises a rotary member 40 an indicator 57 for indicating the extent to which the rotary member has been rotated away from a datume position, a guide member, a cord 42 tensioned by a spring 50, and a movable feeler, movement of which causes corresponding adjustment in the position of the guide member, causing the cord 42 to rotate the rotary member 40 to an extend dependent on the extent of feeler movement. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 to gauge is provided with fixed legs 14, 18 and movable legs 11, 13, 15, 16, 17 associated respectively with pulleys 33-37 so that any movement of a leg causes the cord 42 to rotate the pulley 40 and hence the pointer through gear scans 53-56. The movable end of the cord is provided with a weight 47, by means of which the gauge may be calibrated. In use, e.g. to secure the deviation of the throat area, legs 11, 12 are brought into contact with the vane to measure its height and legs 13-18 to measure its width, consequential movement of legs 11, 13, 15, 16 and 17 causing rotation of pulley 40 and hence of the pointer 57.
