Abstract

981,016. Tankers. PHS. VAN OMMEREN N.V. Jan. 9, 1964 [Jan. 9, 1963; March 1, 1963], No. 1104/64. Headings B7A and B7M. A tanker has an odd number of at least five cargo tanks placed one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the ship, at least two of the tanks being relatively long and the others substantially half their length. The sequence of cargo tanks may be alternatively small and large, or large-small-small-smalllarge, or (as in Figs. 1 and 2) small (1)-large (2)- large (3)-large (4)-small (5). Preferably ballast tanks (6-13 in Fig. 2) exclusively for ballast are provided at the sides as in Specification 981,017. The ballast tanks may be as long as the large or the small cargo tanks and are arranged so that selected tanks may be ballasted to maintain the trim of the ship under partial loading.
