Abstract

980,111. Indicators for switches; locking switches. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 18, 1963 [June 22, 1962], No. 24048/62. Heading H2B. An ON/OFF indicator 20 and a LOCKED OFF indicator 21 are provided in a switch assembly, the plate 27 of the indicator 21 covering the legend OFF on the arcuate strip 22 of the indicator 20 when the switch is locked off. The switch contacts are actuated by rotating a shaft 15 by a handle, Fig.1 (not shown) which carries a boss 18 with a recess 17 into which a limb 26 of the indicator 21 engages when in its locked position to prevent the switch from being actuated. When the indicator 20 is in its OFF position and a door 13 opened, the indicator 21 may be rotated into its locked position. The indicators may be viewed through a window 14 in the door 13. A coiled torsion spring 28 maintains the indicator 21 in either one of its two positions.
