1417942 Switch actuation; covers SIEMENS AG 7 Feb 1974 [7 Feb 1973] 05746/74 Heading H1N In an electric switch having an openable cover 1, Fig. 1, in which a rotatable actuating member 5 extends through the cover 1 for engagement by a turnable actuator handle 6 and having a coupling 4 engageable with a coupling 7, on the switch operating shaft 9 when the cover is closed, the coupling 4 carries spring catches 15 which slide over and engage behind the coupling 7 to prevent the cover 1 being opened when the switch handle is in one position but permitting the cover 1 to be closed in any position of the switch. The coupling 7 is slidable on the end of the switch actuating shaft 9 against the action of a spring 11 to permit the coupling 7 to yield if the couplings 4, 7 are not in alignment when initially engaged. The dog-teeth of the coupling may have slanting sides whereby the parts are relatively rotated if the dog-teeth are not in alignment. A ring 10 with grub screws 12 engaged through slots 13 adjustably supports the coupling 7 on the shaft 9.
