1339196 Mechanical switches; retractive switches CHERRY ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS CORP 21 July 1971 [23 Oct 1970] 34141/71 Heading H1N A panel mounted switch has a casing 18 with a front wall 19 through which a rectilinearly moving actuator 41 projects, yieldable fingers 37, 38 by which the switch is mounted on a panel 40, a side cover for closing casing 18 and co-operating therewith to fix the switch components in the casing, means provided by cas - ing 18 and the side cover for guiding actuator 41 and means 45 on actuator 41 co-operating with the guiding means for guiding and preventing rotation of actuator 41. Side cover 26, Fig. 9 (not shown) has a recess 31, Fig. 9, and abutments 35, 36, Fig. 9, for mating with recess 30, Fig. 10 (not shown) and abutments 32, 33, Fig. 10, in casing 18 for co-operating with abutments 45 on actuator 41 for guiding actuator 41 and preventing its rotation. Side cover 26, Fig. 9, has grooves 27, 28, 29, Fig. 9, mating with grooves 22, 23, 25, Fig. 10, in casing 18 for holding fixed contacts 11, 12 and combined fixed contact and pivot post 13, 14 on which is pivoted moving contact 15 changed over by over-centre spring 16. when moved by lever 17 which is actuated by notch 50 in actuator 41 engaging end 51 of lever 17 when actuator 41 is pressed in, Fig. 3 (not shown), or pulled out, Fig. 4 (not shown). Actuator 41 is hollow and contains a hollow sleeve 48, Fig. 7, having abutments 47 mating with slots inside actuator 41, and containing a retractive spring 52. When actuator 41 is depressed and released it is returned to its Fig. 2 position by spring 52 but when it is pulled out and released it stays in its pulled out position, Fig. 4, until manually returned.
