Abstract
979,922. Air heating stoves; pot burners. WONDERHEAT PROPRIETARY Ltd. March 15, 1962 [March 16, 1961; Dec. 6, 1961], No. 10063/62. Headings F4S and F4T. A space heater comprises a combustion chamber 12 fitted with a liquid fuel pot burner 34, an access door 18, and one or more openings 28 near its top for the discharge of burnt gases to a flue; an outer casing 14 spaced from the back, sides and top of the combustion chamber to form an air jacket 16 having openings in its upper and lower portions for the discharge and inlet of air; and at least one passage 50 connecting jacket 16 to the pot burner for the supply of combustion air. As shown, the space heater comprises a front plate 10 formed with an opening to provide access to a combustion chamber 12 attached to its rear face. An outer casing 14 is also attached to the front plate 10 and partially encloses the combustion chamber 12 to form an air jacket space 16. A hollow metal exhaust gas duct 26 (Fig. 9, not shown) through which burnt gases pass from the combustion chamber to a flue is arranged within the jacket air space 16. The duct 26 is in communication with the combustion chamber by means of openings 28. An air inlet opening 20 communicates with air jacket space 16 and a fan 22 is arranged to force air upwardly out of openings 24a. From the bottom of the combustion chamber hangs a burner comprising two metal members 34a and 40 both open at their upper ends. The inner member 34a is enclosed within the outer member 40 such that combustion air spaces 42 are formed between each adjacent pair of side walls. These spaces are closed at their tops by hot plate 44. An inverted channel member 48, together with the bottom of member 40, forms the combustion air duct 50. The channel member is bent back on itself at 54 (Fig. 5, not shown) to form the open end of the duct below the burner. One side of the inlet end of the duct is extended forwardly to form a deflector 56. Combustion air entering duct 50 passes into the air spaces 42 via holes 52 in the sides of the channel member 48 and hence into the interior of member 34 via spaced holes 35 in the longitudinal extending sides of member 34. Fuel is provided by pipe 58 which is controlled by valve 38 which is accessible through said opening in front plate 10. A substantially air-tight door 18 normally closes the said opening. Adjusting screws 60 are provided on the flanges of outer member 40 (Fig. 7, not shown) to provide three-point adjustment for levelling purposes. In a modification, the air duct 50 is supplied with a regulator valve.
