Abstract

978,988. Tool edges. LODDING ENGINEERING CORPORATION. Nov. 12, 1963 [Dec. 14, 1962] No. 44622/63. Heading B4B. [Also in Division D2] A doctor blade 12, for use in scraping a roll 10 in a paper-making machine, has a layer of aluminium oxide on its scraping edge in permanent bonded relation to the blade. The oxide is applied by " flame plating." The steel blade is optionally cut away at 18, or, alternatively, the blade may be bevelled, Fig. 4 (not shown), to provide a sharp scraping edge.
