Abstract
978,080. Securing rotors on shafts. GASTURBINENBAU UND ENERGIEMASCHINENTWICKLUNG PIRNA VEB. April 6, 1961, No. 12309/61. Heading F2U. [Also in Division F1] A rotor assembly for gas turbines and compressors operating at high speeds and high temperatures comprises a supplementary rotor and a principal rotor clamped together to form a continuous unit so that the opposing faces of the rotors are coplanar, the rotors being mounted on and coupled to a bush which together with the rotors forms a single structure mounted on the compressor or turbine shaft. In the centrifugal compressor shown, an auxiliary impeller 5 and a main impeller 6 are mounted on a bush 7 and clamped against a flange 9 by a nut 16, bolts 10, 11 being provided to transmit torque from one part to another. The impeller assembly is mounted on a shaft 15 and clumped between a shoulder 13 and a nut 14. Bush 7 has a splined engagement with the shaft at 12 and is centred on the shaft at 8.
