In a piston pin-connecting rod assembly the pin and rod are connected together, e.g. by bolts arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pin, to form a rigid unit and the mutually contacting surfaces of the pin and rod, disposed transversely to the axis of the pin, comprise inter-engaging teeth. In Fig. 1, teeth 5 on the end of a connecting rod 3 engage with teeth 4 formed in a radial slot 2 in a cylindrical pin 1 connected to the rod 3 by a necked-down bolt 6 which presses the toothed surfaces against one another. Alternatively, three bolts may be used. In Fig. 5, the pin consists of two disclike parts 9, the contacting faces of which and of the connecting-rod annular end 8 have Hirth-type serrations 10, 11. Rigid connection is by means of an internally and externally screw-threaded sleeve 12 having screw-threads 13, 14 of different pitch. In a modification, Fig. 7, the teeth 10<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP> are of annular form and the parts are connected by necked-down bolts 15.
