Abstract
977,830. Revapourising liquefied gases. UNION TANK CAR CO. July 6, 1962 [Nov. 27, 1961], No. 25993/62. Heading F4P. A vaporizer for liquefied gas, e.g. oxygen or nitrogen, comprises a plurality of serpentine pipes 39... 44, the ends of which are connected to a liquefied gas inlet header 35 and a gas outlet header 36, the pipes being disposed within a housing 20 which is open at both ends for convectional flow of atmospheric air therethrough. The vaporizer is used in a pressure build-up system for a liquefied gas storage tank, Fig. 1 (not shown). Secured over the air inlet end of the housing 20 is an expanded metal cover 25. The pipes 39 ... 44 include a section 50 for effecting de-humidification of the air and a main heat-transfer section 51; the pipes in the section 50 are bare and are spaced apart so that frost building up thereon will not impede the passage of the air and the pipes in the section 51 have fins mounted thereon. The pipes are preferably made of copper alloy.
