977,614. Taking up slack of electric cables and hoses in coal-winning machines. E. WENDT. Dec. 29, 1960 [Dec. 31, 1959], No. 44658/60. Heading B8B. Electric power cable 32 and a water hose 33 supplying a coal winning machine 29 movable on a conveyer 26, pass around respective pulleys 57, 58 to a point 40 where they are fixed on the conveyer framework. Uniform tension is maintained in the cable and hose by the action of a winch 37 acting through a cable 35 connected to a carriage 56 for the pulleys 57, 58. From the anchorage 40 the cable and hose pass in a channel 41 of the conveyer framework. The carriage 56 runs by means of wheels 55, 55, on the conveyer framework and has a bearing member 60 engaging a correspondingly shaped member 61 on the conveyer framework. The cable 32, hose 33 and cable 35 may be suitably reinforced so as to provide a safety means for supporting the machine 29 when it is working on an inclined face, in the event of emergency.
