976,967. Pneumatic tyres. N. J. ARTHUR. May 15, 1961 [Nov. 11, 1960], No. 38746/60. Heading B7C. To provide a visual indication of wear a pneumatic tyre tread has embedded therein a plurality of circumferentially spaced transversely-extending strips of rubber coloured differently from that of the tread. The strips may be of white rubber and of diamond or other distinct shape, and may be applied to the carcase prior to bonding of the tread to the carcase. Alternatively, recesses may be moulded in the tread into which the strip rubber is subsequently poured.
