Abstract

724,539. Wheel_ tyres. STUBBE, F. Jan. 14, 1953 [Jan. 18, 1952], No. 1143/53. Classes 144 (1) and 144 (2). A soft rubber or plastic tyre 7 formed of the section shown in Fig. 1 with an incurved tread 10 and inwardly-converging base portions secured to base rings 8, is clamped between the conical edges 2 of a pair of wheel-discs 1 whereby the tyre is prestressed to the form shown in Fig. 2. The base-rings 8 may be formed of metal or of fabric, wire, or rope windings stiffened with hard rubber. As shown a centering spacing-ring 5 is fitted within off-set portions 4 of the hub-forming portions 3 of the wheel-discs.
