Abstract

976,524. Transilluminated strips. T. E. McNAUGHT. Sept. 26, 1963 [June 14, 1963], No. 23711/63. Heading F4R. [Also in Divisions B7, G5 and H2] Lines, which represent parts of a railway or electrical network or delineate an advertising legend or picture, are formed by strips of transparent or translucent material, each strip having a plurality of transverse cuts, grooves or impressions and a light source at each end, each source producing light of different colour so that each cut, groove or impression may exhibit a two-coloured appearance. Thus three modes of illumination of each strip is possible. Coloured bulbs or normal bulbs combined with coloured filters may be used. The strips may be acrylic resin or glass, of uniform circular, square, reetangular or oval cross-section. Fig. 1 shows one end of a strip 6 on a backboard 4, and Fig. 4 shows a crooked line formed by strips with junction boxes each containing lamps for two strips.
