An image-viewing apparatus comprises (as shown) a housing 40, a viewing aperture 21, an endless conveyer 16 mounted in the housing, a flexible image carrier band 42 extending around the conveyer and releasably engaged therewith so as to run over front and rear guide rollers 20, 19 respectively and so as to be driven by the conveyer, a plurality of resilient paper sheets or synthetic plastic foils 41 having visible representations formed thereon, the sheets or foils being fixed each by one edge to the flexible carrier band, and a cover 40 pivotably mounted on the housing for movement to an open position to permit insertion of the image carrier band into the housing, the arrangement being such that during operations of the conveyer the sheets or foils move past the viewing aperture. The cover 40 carries a projection extending into the viewing aperture so that each sheet or foil in turn strikes the projection before moving past the viewing aperture. The band may carry a hook 43-for engaging into the endless conveyer 16 which is in the form of a chain. This chain 16 passes round a shaft 18 at one end and a gear wheel 17 at the other, this wheel 17 being coupled through gearing 31 to a handle 29. A foot 27 provided for supporting the apparatus in the viewing attitude may also be used as a carrying handle and is constructed as a money-box. A magnifying lens may be positioned in front of the aperture 22 (Fig. 1-not shown). Alternatively, the apparatus may be used with episcopic projection apparatus (Figs. 6 and 7-not shown) the gear wheel 17 then being driven electrically.
