Abstract
976,345. Valves. G. BERGSTRAND. March 30, 1961 [March 31, 1960], No. 11663/61. Heading F2V. A piston closure 8, which controls the connection of a pipe 11, with either an inlet 12 or an outlet 13, is slidable in a body 7 closed by a hood 14 in which hood is a rotatable shaft 15 carrying an asymmetrical plate 19 of parallelepiped shape against which the outer end of the closure 8 is urged by spring 10. The shaft 15 is rotated by a manually or mechanically operated crank arm 17 and the closure 8 is depressed by one or other edge of the plate 19, depending upon which direction of rotation is imparted to the arm 17. Stops prevent the plate 16 from being turned through more than, say, 40 degrees in either direction before the closure is spring returned to its original position upon cessation of movement of the arm 17.
