[Also in Division B3] In a drilling machine the spindle 24 is supported for rotary and axial vibratory movements, in air bearings 25, 26. Compressed air is supplied to chambers 32 in the bearings through an opening 33, and a duct 34, and some of the air leaks through gaps 41, 41<SP>1</SP>, and escapes through a duct 39, thus forming end air cushions for the spindle. The axial position of bearing 26 is adjustable by an eccentric 38 and in a modification chambers 32 in the bearings, Fig. 5, are replaced by holes 44, Fig. 8.
