Abstract

975,681. Mops. P. S. VOSBIKIAN, and T. S. VOSBIKIAN. Dec. 10, 1960, No. 42591/60. Heading A4F. [Also in Division B4] A mop comprises a mop head adapted to be mounted on a flexible strip of plastics material, a tube 2 overlying the central part of the strip, wings 3 extending outwardly from the central part which acts as a hinge when the wings are presseed towards one another, there being provided a handle 8 having an offset prong which is received in the tube 2 and is partially rotatable relative to the prong. As shown in Fig. 1, the wings 3 are a slip fit in the pockets 6 of a strand type mop, the free end of the prong having an annular groove engaged by a slotted locking clip. In a a modification the tube is open at both ends to receive the prong, which has an enlarged head whereby withdrawal is prevented. In another modification, Fig. 7, a mop head comprising a block of resilient absorbing material 12 is provided with upstanding studs which extend through holes in the strip 16 and are engaged by nuts 13. The tube 17 extends longtiudinally of the backing strip 16.
