Abstract

971,370. Rivets. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. July 9, 1963 [July 10, 1962], No. 26561/62. Heading F2H. A rivet of mouldable plastics material comprises a recessed head 11, a shank having a number of resilient fingers 17, 18, and a pin 12 extending into the recess and joined on a line of weakness 15 to the inner end of the recess, the arrangement being such that the pin may be struck to sever it and force it through the shank to spread the fingers. Striking of the pin not only severs the ribs 15 but also a web 19 joining the fingers 17, 18. The fingers may have central grooves to guide the pin. In a further modification, the pin 27, Fig. 5, is rectangular.
