Abstract

975,484. Ionosphere testing apparatus. KABUSHIKI KAISHA YOKOGAWA DENKI SEISAKUSHO. March 13, 1963 [June 28, 1962], No. 9950/63. Heading G1N. A probe device 1 carried in a rocket for tests of the ionosphere such as electron density is erected from the surface of the rocket by a spring loaded sleeve 14 acting on a lever 7 pivoted on a pin 8 on a projection from a hollow centre column 16, the sleeve being held by the beak 27 of a detent 25 and being released by the removal of a pin 39 holding a spring loaded rod 29. Vibration of the probe is substantially prevented by an upper spring 42 and by the friction between insulated steel rods forming a composite rod 2. The probe is erected at a substantially uniform velocity, and the sleeve may erect simultaneously a number of probes radiating from a common axis. Electronic equipment is housed in a container 45.
