Abstract
Polyamide textile materials are treated with an aqueous solution or suspension of a non-fluorescent non-dyestuff compound consisting of a halogeno 1 : 3 : 5-triazine derivative and with an aqueous solution of one or more water-soluble reactive dyestuffs, the treatment with said dyestuffs being carried out during or after the treatment with said triazine derivative. Many types of reactive dye are listed those preferred containing at least one mono- or di-chloro-1 : 3 : 5-triazine-2-ylamino group. The dyes may be from the azo, nitro, anthraquinone or phthalocyanine series and may contain co-ordinately bound atoms of Cu, Co or Cr. The preferred non-dyestuff triazine derivatives have the formula <FORM:0975467/D1-D2/1> wherein n is 1, 2 or 3. The process may be carried out by treating the textile material with the non-dyestuff triazine derivative at 40-100 DEG C., adding an aqueous reactive dye solution and dyeing at the same or a different temperature in the same range or alternatively at 50-150 DEG C. Alternatively the the textile materials may be treated with an aqueous bath containing both components at 40-130 DEG C. The dyebaths may also contain alkalis, acids or neutral salts, preferably the dye is applied under acid conditions. The pH of the baths may be clamped during the course of the process. The polyamide may be polyhexamethyleneadipamide or polycaprolactam. Examples are given.
