Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0974899/C1/1> (wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1- 3 alkyl group or a benzyl group, R2 represents a phenyl or cyclohexyl group, R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, R4 represents a C1- 4 alkyl group and An represents an anion) and their preparation by (a) reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0974899/C1/2> with a compound of the formula R4X (wherein X represents a halogen atom or an alkyl sulphate radical), (b) reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0974899/C1/3> with a compound of the formula R1CH2X, (c) reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0974899/C1/4> (wherein Ha1 represents a halogen atom) with an acid of the formula <FORM:0974899/C1/5> in the presence of a hydrogen halide binding agent, or with a salt of the acid, or (d) reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0974899/C1/6> with an anhydride or halide of an acid (I), optionally followed in each case by replacement of the anion in the product by another anion. The compounds of the invention contain at least one asymmetrically substituted carbon atom and may be prepared in racemic or optically active forms. The compounds are spasmolytics.
