Abstract

Paper tape formed from a mixture of glass and asbestos fibres and impregnated with an uncured epoxylated novalac resin is wound round a conductor at 60-70 DEG C. and heated to cure the resin. The ratio of asbestos to glass in the paper may be 3-4 to 1.4-6% of a polyvinyl acetate resin based on the inorganic fibres may also be present. The paper may be 0.003 inches thick. The impregnant may contain up to 10% of a polyglycidyl ether of a 1, 1, 2, 2-tetra- (hydroxyphenyl) ethane and 2-4.5% of a BF3-amine complex curing agent based on the total epoxy resin. U.S.A.
