Abstract

Compositions for topical application in the treatment of skin disorders (e.g. acne) comprise a vehicle and from 0.1 to 50 mg. (preferably 0.5 to 10 mg.) per gm. of composition of 16 epioestriol. The compositions may be in the form of a lotion or cream in which at least some of the active compound is dissolved in the vehicle or in a component thereof. Substances which improve the absorption of steroids through the skin e.g. cholesterol and tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, may also be present.
