Abstract

An improved process for making Zeolite X (see Specification 777,233) consists of making preferably with stirring an aqueous reactant solution at 43 DEG to 158 DEG F. for having oxide mol. ratios. Na2O/SiO2 = 1.2 to 1.5, SiO2/Al2O3 = 2.5 to 5.0, H2O/Na2O = 35 to 60, maintaining said reactant mixture at said temperature, preferably at 55 DEG to 100 DEG F., for at least 2 hours, heating said mixture to 185 DEG to 335 DEG F., preferably 185 DEG to 250 DEG F., and maintaining the mixture at said temperature until sodium zeolite X has crystallized out, preferably at least 1.5 hours. The description includes two examples of the process which is contrasted with that of Specification 831,076 employing metered mixing of hot reagents.
