Abstract
973,598. Securing handles on spindles. ALLOY PRESSURE DIE PRODUCTS Ltd., and E. A. MORGAN. Sept. 5, 1963 [Oct. 16, 1962], No. 39046/62. Heading F2U. [Also in Division E2] In a door lock assembly one handle 14 is secured to the square end portion 16a of the latch spindle 16 by a radial pin 20 passing through the handle shank 18 and retained by the rose 12, the other handle 15 being screwed on to the other end 16b of the spindle and retained in position by a radial locking screw 24 in the handle and passing through a longitudinal slot in the screwed portion of, or in a plain extension 16c of, the spindle 16. The roses 12, 13 have spikes or prongs 25 which are pressed into the surfaces of the door 10 during engagement of the handle 15 with the spindle prior to insertion of screw 24, the length of the spikes or prongs preferably being greater than the pitch of the thread 16b. The rose 12 houses a handle-loading spring 21 retained in position by a disc 22 and snap ring 23.
