973,378. Captive balloons. G. R. SANKEY. June 7, 1963 [Nov. 8, 1962], No. 42289/62. Heading B7W. [Also in Division G2] A supporting device for articles such as television or photographic cameras comprises a balloon 12, a spreader bar 15 suspended by cables 14 from swivel joint 13 to which they are attached by a quick-release clip, and anchorage cables 16 attached by quick release clips to the ends of bar 15 and wound on two spaced winches on the ground. Cables 11 secure the balloon 12 to the swivel 13. Camera 27 is suspended below bar 15 by a cradle 24 comprising two U- shaped members 25, 26 pivotally connected at 29, member 25 being rotatable in planes parallel to and perpendicular to bar 15 by means of collar 21 and stub shafts 23. The camera is mounted between the arms of member 26 and may be clamped at any given inclination by wing nuts 28. The shutter mechanism is operated from the ground by cable 31. In a modification, anchorage cables are attached to a cross-arm below spreader bar 15.
