Abstract
973,159. Error-prevention arrangements for data-storage apparatus. BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH Ltd. March 20, 1962 [March 27, 1961], No. 11118/61. Heading G4C. [Also in Division H3] In an information storage system employing a plurality of two-state storage devices e.g. bistable toggles using valves or transistors, resetting of a device to a "normal" condition is effected by the charging current of a capacitor connected to the device. As described, Fig. 1a series circuit comprising a resistor R1 and capacitor C1 is connected across the supply to the circuit and the junction of the two elements is connected via a buffer diode D 1 to one of the outputs of one or more toggle circuits. On switching on the circuit after a supply interruption the potential across C1 is zero, earthing the output connected to it, thus establishing the state of the circuit. In a modification, Fig. 3 the capacitor C2 is shunted by a resistor R2 and included between earth and capacitor C2, is a switch X which is operated to reset the circuit after some irregularity of operation. The circuits of Figs. 1 and 3 may be connected to the same toggle Fig. 3 (not shown). Specification 826,604 is referred to.
