[Also in Division G3] An hydraulic power transmission system comprises a swash-plate pump 1 driving a motor 5 in which the inclination of swash-plate is varied by a servomotor 11 in response to manual means or the pressure in the transmission system. The servomotor 11 comprises a piston 33, one side 24 of which is subjected to the fluid pressure fed from a line 23 while the other side 42 is connected to this pressure or exhaust through a passage 41 controlled by a pilot valve 31, a land of which co-operates with a groove 40. The supply at 24 passes through passages 34, 35 and 36 to act on piston members 37, 38, the piston 38 being twice the area of piston 37 whereby the piston 38 and hence the pilot valve 31 is normally urged into contact with a manually adjustable cam 29. Rotation of this cam varies the inclination of the swash-plate from a zero output to a maximum output in either direction, a portion 43 of the cam ensuring zero output irrespective of any lost motion in the linkage from a control lever 25 to the cam. The pilot valve 31 is also adjustable through a lever 55 in response to pressure in the system. The lever is movable in response to movement of a member 53 which is moved by transmission pressure acting on a plunger 49 when this pressure overcomes the spring loading 56. An overload adjustment is also provided by a valve 58 subjected at one end to transmission pressure, which moves against spring 60 when the pressure exceeds a predetermined value and allows the transmission pressure to pass by passage 61 to act on two pistons 62, 63 thus increasing the force on the member 53.
