Abstract
972,321. Electric-motor-driven pumps. SIGMUND PUMPS Ltd. June 27, 1963 [April 5, 1962], No. 13171/62. Heading H2A. In a motor-driven pump of the type in which the motor is mounted on the pump housing and the pump impeller is carried on the motor shaft, the impeller is detachable from the motor shaft at the non-driving end of the motor shaft. As shown, the impeller 6 is carried on a spindle 18 secured in the hollow motor-shaft 16 by nuts 23 at the top of the motor. Leakage is prevented by a conventional seal 11. The motor may be removed (when nuts 23 are removed) by lifting it off its seating 3. In a modification, the impeller is mounted on a stub shaft secured to the bottom end of the motor shaft by a bolt extending through from the top.
