Abstract

970,694. Mechanical switches, without quick action. OAK MANUFACTURING CO. May 10, 1963 [May 29, 1962], No. 18565/63. Heading H2B. A rotary switch comprises a built up casing 10 having a front section 11 (housing locating means 35) and a plurality of contact-carrying sections 12 interengaged by lugs 13 and notches 14. The sections are retained assembled by the switch shaft 20 which passes through a bushing 21 having a plate 36 secured thereto with lugs seating in notches 14 at the front end of section 11, and, after traversing switch rotors 31, passes through an end cover 56 having lugs 57 which are retained in notches 14 at the rear of the final section 12 by means of a spring washer 61 and nut 65 threaded on to the end of shaft 20- The shaft 20 has flat sides 70 and parts of the nut 65 are crimped at 71 to lock it in position. The bushing 21 is threaded at 22 for panel mounting and the shaft 20 has a C-ring 23 secured in a groove 24 and an anti-friction washer 26 is provided between ring 23 and the front face of bushing 21. Three balls 44 are carried in a plate 42 secured to shaft 20 and are urged by spring 46 and plate 45 to co-operate with indexing portions 40 pressed out of plate 36.
