Abstract

970,393. Hosepipes. SINGER-FIDELITY Inc. March 29, 1961 [April 1, 1960], No. 1461/61. Heading F2P. [Also in Division D1] A flexible hose 10 is reinforced by a tubular knitted fabric 12 whose wale loops are at the back of the fabric and which comprises two webs with parallel wales 20 and 30, respectively, wales 20 lying between wales 30 and the connecting yarn runs passing in front of the intervening wales and intersecting on diagonal lines, one or more reinforcing strands 41, 42 passing in front of the wale loops and behind the diagonal connecting runs. As shown, hose 10 comprises a plastic body 11 with the fabric 12 embedded therein. The webs are knitted on two separate series of needles each web being knitted from two yarns 21, 22 and 31, 33, respectively. In a modification, Fig. 5, four reinforcing strands 81, 82, 91, 92 are provided which may be of metal.
