970,367. Accumulator electrodes. TUDOR A.B. May 30, 1961 [July 7, 1960], No. 19543/61. Heading H1B. A lead accumulator electrode comprises a number of electrically conducting cores arranged side by side, each surrounded by active material enclosed in a separate electrolyte resisting permeable envelope central on the said core by means of electrically insulated spacers. A spacer 5 either made from insulating material or coated with a non-conducting material, has an opening 7 preferably arranged tangentially so as to increase the distance traversed by ions and thus to preclude corrosion where it opens on to the electrode core. A plurality of " fingers " 6 locates the envelope concentrically with the core. The spacer opening 7 may be entirely closed. The core may be provided with annular ribs between which the spacers are located, or, alternatively, the spacers may be shrunk into position.
