Abstract

A dielectric material is distributed throughout an unsintered tetrafluoroethylene polymer (preferably polytetrafluoroethylene), which composition is then sintered to form an insulating layer comprising a dielectric material in the form of spherical droplets preferably having a diameter of 1 to 10 m . The dielectric material exemplified is a polysiloxane. In addition fillers such as potassium titanate may be added. The composition in its unsintered form is preferably coated round a wire and the composite is then sintered to form a conductor having improved corona resistance.
