Heading G1Q [Also in Division G4] Apparatus for measurement of R.M.S. voltage of repetitive waveform, steady voltage or a combination of alternating and direct voltages, comprises a rectifier bridge circuit MR1, MR2, MR3, MR4, feeding a transistor amplifier circuit with semi-conductor diodes MR7-MR16 as its load to develop a current proportional to the square of the applied voltage, the mean value of such current being determined by a circuit of suitable time constant, feeding said current into another transistor amplifier circuit with series semi-conductor diodes MR17-MR20 as its load to produce an output voltage proportional to the square root of the said mean current, and indicating such voltage on a moving coil meter A with a linear scale calibrated in R.M.S. voltage.
