970,207. Refrigerating. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Dec. 13, 1962, No. 47179/62. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F1] An aircraft cooling system receiving an airflow includes in series a compressor, a first heat exchanger having a passageway for the air flow coolant, a turbine driving the compressor and a second heat exchanger such that the airflow cools a fluid passing through, or in contact with, the second heat exchanger. A gas-turbine engine 5 having a compressor 8 supplies air through a duct 14 to an auxiliary compressor 16 driven by a turbine 18. Air leaving compressor 16 passes through a first heat exchanger 17 supplied with cooling ram air through a passage 6 and expands in a turbine 18 before passing into a second oil-cooling heat exchanger 19. Air from the oil cooler 19 exhausts into a duct 20 with an ejection effect.
