Abstract
A method of producing an article simulating a drinking glass, containing a drink, comprises pouring in the liquid state into a drinking glass a synthetic resinous material which sets to simulate the drink, the pouring being effected under conditions of temperature which does not harm the glass and the resinous material being set by cooling. A thin layer of unplasticized resinous material is poured on to the exposed surface of the resinous material to produce a hard, smooth surface. To produce froth the resinous material is agitated by a paddle or blowing device or a separate batch of resinous material may be prepared and added to simulate froth. Bubbles may be produced by introducing a wire into the resinous material or by agitating. Cherries, olives, pieces of ice or lemon may be added, or simulations thereof. The resinous material may be produced from materials such as methyl methacrylate, butyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylate or Tensol Cement No. 7. "Tensol" is a Registered Trade Mark. Example I. To simulate a champagne drink. The resinous material comprises 60 parts Tensol Cement No. 7 suitably coloured with an oil-soluble dye, mixed with 6 parts benzoyl peroxide and 40 parts dibutyl phthalate. The mixture is poured into a champagne glass and a fine wire inserted and withdrawn several times to produce streams of bubbles. The material is allowed to cool and a mixture of 10 parts Tensol Cement No. 7 with less than 0.5 parts of accelerator poured over the surface to produce a hard surface. Example II. To simulate a beer drink. The suitably coloured resinous material is poured into a beer glass and allowed to set. To produce froth a mixture of 25 parts Tensol Cement No. 7 with 2.5 parts of accelerator is added.
