Abstract

The machine is for mechanically moulding the feet of drinking glasses, partic. in fine glassware, so that the chosen design can readily be reproduced. A platform carries three or more moulding units and the split mould contains a crucible for holding the required quantity of molten glass. The glass itself, already blown by the operator, is placed over the mould opening and held in position by its blowing iron; the molten glass is then injected into the forming zone where it joins up with the glass body. On opening the mould the foot is obtained already joined to the glass and decorated with the designs worked in the forming zone. Complete uniformity of prodn. is obtained at high speed and low cost, with relatively unskilled labour.
