969,752. Moulding poles &c. ERECON Ltd. Dec. 23, 1960 [Dec. 24, 1959], No. 43879/59. Heading B5A. [Also in Division E1] A pole, having a shell d of reinforced synthetic resin and a core f of homogeneous material bonded together into a single mass, is constructed by laying a fibre-glass mat around a mandrel and impregnating it with resin, allowing the resin to set, withdrawing the mandrel, and filling the shell with foamed concrete or foamed phenolic polyester based resin. Alternatively, the shell is made in two halves, using a mould, which are then butt-joined and cemented, the resulting shell being filled as before. In another embodiment, the core is first formed by filling a hollow mould with the foamed material, the core is removed from the mould and wrapped with resin impregnated fibre-glass. Other core materials disclosed are concrete and foamed polymethane or polystyrene. Specification 963,213 is referred to.
