Abstract

969,609. Discharge of tablets from vibrating bowl. G.K.N. GROUP SERVICES Ltd. March 27, 1961 [March 28, 1960] No. 10819/60. Heading B8A. Articles from a plurality of streams are combined together to form one stream. As shown, articles 22 in vibrating bowl 23 are advanced in six streams up strips 38 to the top of the bowl. At the top of the bowl the six streams feed themselves on to rotating conveyer 50. Whilst being conveyed around by conveyer 50 the articles slide down the sloping face 51 thereof and are directed outwards centrifugally into outlet 62. Both bowl 23 and conveyer 50 are rotated, their speeds of rotation being chosen so that the six streams of articles fed to the conveyer at different points of the circle are united to form succeeding batches of articles discharging at outlet 62. Bowl 23 is given its vibratory movement by vibration motor 28, 30, being carried by springs 24, and the whole bowl and springs rest on the base 25. Base 25 rests on bearing 26 and is given a rotatory movement by motor 32 operating via gearing 36, 37 and inner shaft, not shown, so that bowl 23 has both a vibratory movement and a separate rotary movement. Conveyer 50 is carried by disc 56, the disc running on rollers 57 and being driven from motor 32 via gearing 35, 61 and shaft 60. In order to avoid an article overshooting the corner 65 and thus failing to be discharged down outlet 62, each stream of articles is provided with a pivoted flap 44 positioned on and at the top of bowl 23. Each flap is actuable by a corresponding stationary cam 48 positioned on stationary wall 52. Cam 48 actuates a flap 44 to knock into the bowl any article which might fail to be discharged down the outlet 62.
