Abstract
969,228. Straightening. M. VON BUSCHE, and T. ALTENBRACHT, [trading as TH. KIESERLING & ALBRECHT]. [March 15, 1961 [March 19, 1960], No. 2944/64. Divided out of 969,226. Heading B3E. Apparatus for straightening rods or tubes comprises straightening members mounted in a rotating frame, the straightening members being adjustable radially during operation of the apparatus. Rod 10 is fed by rollers 11 and 12, which also prevent its rotation, through a series of straightening members 4-9, of hyperbolic inner profile 13, carried by a frame 1 rotated by a toothed belt 3. Each member 4-9 is rotatable in a housing 15. The housing 15 is adjustable angularly about the axis of its pivot 14 by worms 18, 18a engaging a gear 16 keyed to the pivot 14 and driven, through shafts 19, 19a and gearing 20, 20a, 21, 21a, 22, 22a, by a gear 23 rotatable relative to the frame 1 for the adjustment by a toothed belt 23a. The housings 15 are also adjustable to and from the material being straightened by a gear 26 threaded on a pivot 14a of the housing 15 and rotated by worms on shafts 30, 30a. The shaft 30a is driven, through gearing, by a gear-wheel 31, for the straightening members 4, 5, 8 and 9, and the shaft 30 by a gear-wheel 32 for the members 6 and 7, the gears 31 and 32 being driven by toothed belts 31a, 32a. The frame 1 is driven through infinitely variable gearing from a motor 36, Fig. 6 (not shown), and the appropriate one of the gears 23, 31, 32, when necessary, through differential gearing, Figs. 5-7 (not shown), selectively geared to the belt driving that gear 23, 31 or 32.
