Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of general formula <FORM:0969099/C1/1> wherein X1 represents halogen, hydroxy or alkoxy (1-6C) and X2 represents alkoxy (1-6C); their acid addition salts; and their preparation by condensing equimolar quantities of an appropriate alkoxy-acetamidine and a -alkoxy-methylene -b - alkoxy-propionitrile at elevated temperature, optionally hydrohalogenolysing the condensation product, and optionally hydrogenolysing or hydrolysing or alcoholysing the hydrohalogenolysis product. Amidines used as starting materials are produced by the method <FORM:0969099/C1/2>
