969,093. Welding by fusion. F. BODE & SON Ltd. June 18, 1963 [June 23, 1962], No. 24253/62. Heading B3R. A work-holder for a seam welding machine, e.g. for welding plates or the longitudinal seam of a tube comprises clamping fingers 16 pressed into engagement with the work by the short arm of a pivoted lever 32 the long arm of which is acted upon by an inflatable hose 30. The edges of a tube are pressed by opposed sets of fingers 16 having copper tips on to a backing bar 14. The inflatable hoses 30 are located in cradles 29 positioned between the fingers 16 and the levers 32. Springs 36 return the fingers 16 when the hoses 32 are deflated. Screws 23 acting in opposition to springs 25 serve for longitudinal adjustment of the fingers 16.
