Abstract

A herbicidal composition comprises at least one 3-substituted uracil of formula <FORM:0968662/A5-A6/1> or the corresponding isomeric formula <FORM:0968662/A5-A6/2> wherein R1 represents an alkyl radical of 3 to 6 carbon atoms, R2 represents an alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms and X is oxygen or sulphur or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof; and a diluent which is at least in part an oil, e.g. petroleum hydrocarbons, a solid, a surface active agent or a liquid other than an oil, e.g. water and a surface-active agent. The compositions may contain additional herbicides, e.g. those specified in Specifications 968,663, 968,664, 968,665 and 968,666, 2,4-D and 2-methyl-4-chloro phenoxy acetic acid. Other additives include adhesives, e.g. gelatin and blood albumin; rosin and alkyd resins and binders, e.g. goulac, dextrin, starch, glue or polyvinyl alcohol. Specified forms are powders, granules, pellets, oil dispersions, wettable powders and emulsions. Specification 492,742 also is referred to.
