Abstract

968,425. Making vessels; Jointing. FIBREGLASS Ltd. July 31, 1963 [May 2, 1962], No. 16813/62. Headings B3A and B3V. A metal lining or covering is fastened to a base of plastic material by embedding into the latter metal inserts to which the lining or covering is secured as by welding or brazing. A vessel has a body moulded from glass fibre reinforced plastic with the metal inserts exposed on the inner small face. The inserts may comprise a grid or network moulded into the vessel wall. A lining of stainless steel sheet, such as nickel chrome steel, is formed in sections which are spot-welded to the inserts and butted together. The butt joints are then welded, ground and polished.
