Abstract

Finely-divided coal residues are dried to contain not more than 0.6% water and then mixed with a quantity of a more highly hygroscopic substance such as dried sawdust or peat such that the dried coal residue retains its flowability during subsequent storage and transport. In an example 6% of dried sawdust was mixed with the dried coal residue. Powdered mineral such as mica or kieselguhr may be added to the mixture to improve the flowability of the mixture.
