[Also in Division H2] A bimetallic strip for an electric switch is E- shaped, its outer limbs 1b, 1bx, being cantilever supported at their ends, its base 1x being stiffened and its centre limb 1a being heated to a higher temperature than its outer limb. The heating may be accomplished by mounting a heating winding 2 on the centre limb or by dividing this limb by a longitudinal slot so that it is heated resistively by current flowing through the strip.
