An element for a pressing iron comprises two arcuate limbs, connected together at one end only, preferably hingedly so as to be adjustable to a range of sizes, each limb comprising heater wire wound on a mica or micanite strip and sandwiched between similar, but wider strips. The wire is carried across at the hinged end, which is stepped to prevent contact between the winding, and each limb has a terminal strip remote from the hinge.
